SEAGAZE INNOVATORS, THE FOXFIRES, JOIN BRINK RECORDS
Virginia Beach, VA – (October, 1 2019) – Brink Records is thrilled to announce the signing of innovative Seagaze band The Foxfires.
The Foxfires have been favorably compared to the likes of Modest Mouse, Silversun Pickups, Manchester Orchestra, The Bravery, Bloc Party, Cold War Kids, Death Cab for Cutie, and more. Their sound is a blend of influences that redefines Shoegaze. Appearing most prominently in their energetic music is folk, rock guitar, and surf rock with oceanic ambience and much more shining through to create a distinct and cohesive sound they’ve dubbed Seagaze.
The NYC area four-piece first formed in 2013. The Foxfires play approximately 100 shows per year including sold out clubs and numerous festival appearances. Their music has been widely licensed in the U.S. and Europe, including by The Discovery Networks. The band has released a full-length album, two EPs, and steadily built an international following and wide critical acclaim. “New York’s The Foxfires are blazing through…like an unstoppable force. [They] have quickly become a favorite of fans and critics alike.”- Paste Magazine “The Foxfires are pure positive energy. They provide a message of hope and love at a time our planet sorely needs it.” – ION Indie Magazine
The message is part of the mission for The Foxfires. They are activists for causes such as stopping climate change and suicide prevention and have used their music to advance those causes. Brink Records CEO, Grace Garvin, says, “It’s really a pleasure to work with artists who are so selfless and so dedicated to the well-being of others and our planet. They’ve been doing it thorough their art for a long time and we look forward to helping them spread that message and hopefully make a difference.”
The band’s most recent EP, “Brooklandia”, was released digitally in June 2019 and will be their first official release with Brink. The critical reaction to “Brooklandia” has been stellar even by The Foxfires high standards. “We’re really excited by the early reaction,” says Brink Head of A&R, Drew Little. “We can’t wait to go forward with the wide release and get this music and message out to a whole new audience.”
The physical version of “Brooklandia” is available for pre-order now and will begin shipping in November. The EP will be available in two eco-friendly packages. Depending on the version a fan chooses, part of the sale price will be donated to either suicide prevention or to protect the rain forest.
